Mark your calendars! The dates and location of the Twelfth Bruker Area Detector Users Group have been chosen. This year's meeting will be held at the BioPharmaceutical Technology Center (BTC) near Madison, Wisconsin, on May 18-20, 2003 with an opening tour and dinner at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The primary topics of this meeting will be concerned with the applications of Bruker-Nonius software and CCD hardware in the field of small molecule single-crystal X-ray diffraction, but users of other types of Bruker area detector systems are welcome to attend. A significant portion of the meeting will be allocated to data processing and handling techniques including handling of difficult and twinned structures.
We hope that the scheduling of this meeting on the above dates will make it possible for many of you to take advantage of discount airfares. Many of you in the Midwest should be able to drive to the meeting.
The specific technical content of the meeting has not yet been chosen. Since this is a users meeting, we would like to have suggestions for topics you would like to discuss and for the format of the meeting. We would also welcome volunteers to help with the organization of the meeting. Please e-mail your suggestions to Ilia Guzei.
The users are encouraged to give presentations on topics of general interest. George Sheldrick, Ton Spek, John Huffman, and Victor Young are confirmed invited speakers. The coordinators for the meeting are Ilia Guzei (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Susan Byram, Charles Campana, and Curt Haltiwanger (Bruker-AXS).
The Bruker CCD Users Group has its own list server maintained at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This list was established to facilitate discussion about the Bruker X-ray systems. Discussions focus on the hardware components of the CCD detectors, software, and crystallography related issues. This is a private, unmoderated list. If you are a user of Bruker X-ray equipment we encourage you to contact Susan Byram or Ilia Guzei for subscription.
