# Last Name First Name Capacity Location Topic
1 Bhuvanesh Nattamai Speaker Texas A&M University Workshop. Indexing Powder Patterns with Topas-I
2 Byram Sue Speaker Bruker-AXS What is new at Bruker
3 Campana Charles Speaker Bruker-AXS Diagnosis and Treatment of Problem Structures. I will include twinning, modulated structures and disorders.
4 Dahl Larry Speaker University of Wisconsin-Madison Take-home messages reflecting a) 50-year chemical crystallographic course and b) recent crystal structure/composition analysis of icosahedral-bonding 165 metal-atom four-shell carbonyl/triphenylphosphine Pd-Pt cluster of cubic 2/m-3(Th) site symmetry.
5 Desper John Speaker Kansas State University Analysis of multi-residue, Z'>1 structures in a multi-instrument, multi-user laboratory. I'm planning to spend some time talking about the RESI command, and in particular ways to process large asymmetric units.
6 Falvello Larry Speaker Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain Molecules That Change Shape and Molecular Crystals That Change Phase and Composition. The talk is about parametric studies -- measuring the same crystal at different temperatures and pressures and tracking the changes. These studies have produced some surprisingly interesting results.
7 Fanwick Phillip Speaker Purdue University Programs and Procedures in the Crystallography Laboratory at Purdue. I would talk about the procedures and programs I use at Purdue. This would include the local program OUTLIER I have written to remove bad data and other utility programs for connecting SHELX with SIR and other program packages. I also have some utilities for working with .res files without invoking a text editor.
8 Foxman Bruce Speaker Brandeis University Radiation-Induced Single Crystal Transformations: Discovery, Twinning and Mechanistic Experiments.
9 Hope Håkon Speaker University of California-Davis Cryocrystallography in the 5-20 K range.
10 Hovestreydt Eric Speaker Bruker-AXS X-ray Sources in Focus.
11 Lindeman Sergey Speaker Marquette University Avoiding some experimental/computational stereotypes in small-molecule X-ray crystallography. I have a collection of things (crystal mounting, generator mode, collection strategy, radiation choice... disorder refinement) that I know people do in a not an optimal way. I think it will be a good topic for discussion, because very often we just blindly follow procedures instead of thinking a bit.
12 Mueller Peter Speaker MIT Workshop. Refinement of Difficult Structures. Please bring your difficult structures and we will solve them together in the workshop. The participants could, for example, bring the structures on a memory stick and I would load them onto my laptop, which would be
connected to a projector. That way everyone can see the structure and we
can discuss together how to solve the problem. We encourage the participants to bring the data (frames!) of their problem structures. That way we can go back to the data reduction level if necessary.
13 Olmstead Marilyn Speaker University of California-Davis Application of FRAG in structure refinement.
14 Reibenspies Joseph Speaker Texas A&M University Multi-tasking on a Three-circle X-ray Diffractometer.
15 Ruf Michael Speaker Bruker-AXS APEX II ULTRA - Precision and Accuracy.
16 Sheldrick George Speaker University of Goettingen, Germany Talk: "Discussion of possible future developments in SHELX/SHELXTL". I would make some introductory comments and then invite suggestions from the participants that could turn into a general discussion. Workshop: Recent developments in SADABS and TWINABS.
17 Yap Glenn Speaker University of Delaware Confined sterics: Crystallography education in a service laboratory and coordination compound bond angles. I will be talking about the special topics course I am teaching once a year and the new compounds we have characterized as part of course.

Workshops

1. Nattamai Bhuvanesh, Texas A&M University. “Indexing Powder Patterns with Topas-I”.
2. Charles Campana, Bruker-AXS. "PhaseID module and other powder diffraction applications".
3. Peter Mueller, MIT. "Refinement of Disorder with SHELXL".
4. George Sheldrick, University of Goettingen. "Recent developments in SADABS and TWINABS".
